Description: A clip compilation from Amundsen's historic expedition to the South Pole. Fram, ready for the epic journey ahead, is seen moored by Akershus fort in Oslo, where the dogs are brought aboard. Southward bound, the crew gets its first glimpses of drift ice. And after entering the Ross Sea, they observe whales in the Bay of Whales. Later, after the dogs are prepared at base camp Framheim, the final push is made for the South Pole. This leads to footage of seals lazing about, while grizzled crew members dance and fool around on deck. Then it's time to get ready for the long trip home, but not before a shot of some playful penguins. Proceedings come to a close with a hearty, "Gute nacht!" This short film was presumably presented by Amundsen himself on a tour or tours for German-speaking audiences.
